Comparing it with other password managers
Apple released its new app for managing your passwords replacing the KeyChain with the “Passwords” app.
I have been using 1Password for the last 7 years to manage my passwords. I was just thinking about closing its subscription by switching to the Apple Passwords app.
moving from 1Password to Apple Passwords (export and import)
In 1Password, I have 4 vaults of passwords. I moved all my passwords to a single vault. Export all of them as CSV. Open the Passwords app, and import the CSV file. Done.
I tested the app for two days. Here are the reasons I found that I should not move to the Passwords app — yet.
1. platform independent and other platform support
Passwords app is so well designed, simple, and flawless — only inside the Apple ecosystem.
The first hiccup I faced is, it is not quite good in Chrome when compared to 1Password. It has very less options and features as a Chrome extension.
I don’t have a Windows PC with me. I assume the case is the same with Windows too. They are functionally good, yet limited and aesthetically bad. You won’t like using it, especially if you’re using other password managers.
