Fail quickly and cheaply (as a new Medium Writer)

A low number of followers is a boon

Flexibility in the plan is the key to long-term success — along with consistency.

If you’re not flexible, you are not trying anything new. If you’re not trying anything new, you’ll end up in the same state you are in now.

A low number of followers is actually a boon

I see so many new writers worrying about their progress in terms of increment in follower count.

But when you start, when you have a low follower count, you can experiment with new things.

You need to test your strategies. You can test them right now, and you have less at stake.

When you start experimenting early, you can fail cheaply. Let the losses be bearable.

Failures are inevitable. Control the consequences and limit its duration.

Write as many articles as you can in the beginning. Don’t hold back.

As a new writer, you’ll have plenty of freedom to experiment. Use it when you can.

Go 100% at your early stage. Whatever you write, you publish. No matter what the topic is, no matter how far away it is from your niche or how offset it is from your usual style.
