Medium Partner Program further delayed to India — I am moving to Substack.

Will be writing in Medium casually. But, My prime works are moving to Substack

From October month Medium Partner Program Update.

…this will unfortunately take longer than we estimated. As of now, we estimate that the additional country support will launch in early 2024 with a more robust payout system to handle all the nuances of different countries and currencies.

In short, there is no way to earn from Medium for India until 2024. Maybe until the end of 2024. (Yeah, I know they said early 2024, but their track record of following deadlines made me assume it is at the end of 2024).

Additionally, the update says about incentivizing high-quality content. Algorithm changes. Counting ‘reading time’ of articles for calculating rewards.

They are changing things often. Their scheme (so-called algorithm) for calculating rewards for writers looks volatile.

Let the fuss settle down.

I am not putting my full effort here at medium until I understand the game. Until then, let me write casually — without much effort — but only to keep in touch with my ‘followers’ here.

‘for now’ logic is driving me away from Medium

Even if they let you in (to the Medium Partner Program) you can’t see $$$ immediately. You have to play this game for longggg…..

And you have to shell out $5 every month.

Alrighty!

Let me pay those bucks when they force me. That is when I get to earn for my writing.

As of now, I plan to show up (write) every day here at Medium for fellow writers.

Substack

I started to focus more on my Substack pub since last week.

The orange post man is looking more promising than ever.

There at Substack,

  • I focus more on giving useful and resourceful information.
  • I focus more on the quality of posts that are being sent to every subscriber. Once I push the ‘post’ button nothing can be changed.

Right now I’ve built a better audience base than Medium’s follower count.

I found many newsletters at Substack have far better quality content than Medium.

The only issue is, it is hard to reach readers there. You have to put in some effort.

How’s Substack?

  • less bull-sh*t content
  • no more irritating clickbaity titles
  • you have a separate page for yourself. Your readers won’t bounce to articles from other writers.

In railway terms, a Medium is more like an unreserved compartment — while a Substack is more like a coupe.

Which means you have a better relationship with your readers.

They added a few features that will help you reach other substack readers better than before.

Even though the future potential subscriber count is fewer, they would be true fans.

1000 true fans @ Substack is greater than 10,000 Medium followers.

I love the choice of dealing only with serious readers and ignoring the noise.

Here’s my Newsletter. Hop on in for free.

And then you’ll know why I switched to Substack.

I won’t lie. I used this opportunity to talk about my Newsletter. Because That’s what writers do. Promotion.

You won’t regret checking out my Newsletter.

If you’re a person trying to get bread out of writing, you should start a Substack pub now. Better now.

I would like to subscribe to yours as a sign of encouragement from my side. If it is worthy enough, I will recommend it too.

Remember, the Substack game is different than we play in Medium. I will continue writing my experience with Substack in further posts. To know about them, you know what to do here.
